Im going cold turkey off of tramadol starting friday of this weekend?

Leisha

I tried weaning myself but my psychological dependence on the drug gets in my way. Do you have any advice or tips that might lessen the withdrawal or just make it a little easier? I'm taking 2 50mg pills twice a day, how long until the worst part of the withdrawal is over ad how long until i should feel normal again?

Sandie

Here's what I suggest you do to help you get over the psychological dependence on this drug. Believe me you will feel better after one week of doing what I have recommended. Here is what I suggest to get you over the worst part of the withdrawals. To help with the withdrawals take hot bathes with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts and soak for 30 minutes. The skin is the biggest organ of elimination and this will help pull out the drugs. Use a loofa to clean the pores and this will help pull the drugs out even faster. I recommend you drink purified water mixed with mineral water 50/50. This will replace the minerals that are exiting your body continuously.I suggest that adults and children drink 40 ounces of water per 100 pounds of body weight every day and 2c. a day of fresh carrot juice, to flush the medicine out of your liver. Taking 500mg of calcium and magnesium twice a day will help you to relax. Drink chamomile tea throughout the day and evening to help you stay relaxed. Use a powdered fiber supplement twice daily to pull the drugs out of your intestines where they store. Two of the questionnaires in this forum did follow this program to withdraw from drugs and it did help. I've enclosed a link where you can read their response to this program. If you have any further questions please let me know, Billie77answers.yahoo.com/question/index;answers.yahoo.com/question/index;

the best way to go off the med is to taper. try cutting the pills and taking portions.you may also use benadryl to keep yourself a little more calm, follow the directions on the bottle. then distract yourself the best you can.try pacving around. i dont know how long youve been on the med to say how long u will detox, but goodluck to you;)michele

Giselle

What I did was I finished all my tramadol and didn't get my Rx refilled even if I could. I made a decision to go off the meds and I stuck to it. Drink lots of water. Entertain yourself by reading a book, watch a movie, etc. Look for other ways to deal with the pain - the non-medical ones - exercise, diet, etc.My withdrawal symptoms lasted for about 5 days and I was on tramadol for about 4 years, 100mg twice a day. I even went up to 200mg twice a day for a time.

What is the lenght of time that is safe to use tramadol for pain headaches ?

Glenda

I get pretty bad chronic headaches and migraines sometimes ...they get worse w stress so the Tramadol really helps but i try not to take it often...what is the max you can take per week? i usually just try to stay at 4 -5 pills a week.

Alethea

You can take up to 3 pills every day. If you have that many headaches though you need to go back to your neurologist and see about trying some preventative medicine to help prevent the headaches or at least lessen the number you get and the severity. Go back to your neurologist soon for preventative meds.

Can anyone tell me where to get tramadol 5mg liquid for my dog my vet is unable to obtain any ?

Chieko

I have a dog on it now in the uk. He is on tablet form, and the one he is on is a human drug and I have to sign for it.Not sure if the liquid is a canine version or not. I was also told that it would make my dog drowsy, but hasn't been too bad, especially as he needs to be kept quiet.

Jaye

Why is your vet unable to get this? Beware - my ****** was put on this and it completely zonked her out.... she was on a major trip. She came off it - fast. So if he's 'unable to get any' this may be sending you a message? (UK - btw)

Ester

Ask your vet if he can write you a prescription and get it at a chemist some vets do that for medicine.

Lanita

In the US you are only able to obtain it from a medical dr. by prescription only. That medication can actually be habit forming.

Adena

Well a country would be helpful.

Anderson

I have had 2 dogs on it, but both on the tablets. Never had one on liquid. I'm in the us. I just crused the pills and mixed it with their food, they ate it fine.

Belkis

Only a vet can give you Tramadol. Vets can obtain it at any time and I'm sure they always have it available in their office. I know my vet does. If a vet thinks your dog needs Tramadol, he or she will prescribe it. If you did take your dog to the vet and they did not give you Tramadol for whatever reason you think your dog needs it, then the reason your vet did not give you any for your dog, is probably because the vet doesn't think it will help your dog or that your dog needs it.

Is 100mg of iv tramadol an effective painkiller?

Nicol

i am in hospital and i was getting 2.5mg of morphine iv (threw line into vein) 4 times daily. Tomorrow they want to switch my pain relief to 100mg of IV tramadol 4 times daily. Is this an effective painkiller or would i be better askin to stay on the small dose of morphine. They said it'll be what is most effective for me....

Florentina

Tramadol does nothing for me either except make me fell restless and sick... I would stick with morphine if it's helping...

Charley

I personally found that tramadol dose nothing for the pain. This may just be me also i took it in tablet form. best of luck i hope this helps

Buffy

Shawn is one of the people that gets no relief from Tramadol and there are many people like that. For some reason it effects everyone different. I on the other hand think it is one of the best opioids available. I am in chronic pain and have a tolerance for hydrocodone and percocet and tramadol is the only thing that helps. I take 200mg daily and enjoy the mild euphoria along with a chatty buzz that comes along with the amazing pain relief. I think IV Tramadol may be a good alternative to morphine since morphine is such a potent and rather addictive medication. If the Tramadol does not work the nursing staff should happily change you to something else. Feel better soon.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramadol
