Is human tramadol and doggy tamamdol the same?

My dad takes tramadol for his displaced disk and my dog just had surgery and was perscribed tramadol. Are they the exact same? I would think that's kinda weird. Anyway, just wondering.

I think they are probably very similar but the dosages are very different I'm certain.
