Tramadol 50 mg 3 times a day. Just curious if anyone has any knowledge if this particular medication? Since she has been taking it, we feel that her condition is worse? I think it makes her drowsy?? Is it suppose to make the dog drowsy? ANY INPUT WILL HELP! Thanks
DalilaIt will make dogs drowsy usually. It is a good anti-inflammatory med. Safer to me than Rimadyl especially for a lab or golden mix. I would give it at least 1 - 2 wk to see how dog does. If you feel it isn't helping, call the vet & tell them.
EvelineSorry I don;t know about the meds you are using but look for a senior dog food with the hip supplements in it and she will get better. Zukes hip action is a great meaty treat for her also. I have fed both and seen a big difference in my senior dogs.
PhuongTry giving it just twice a day and see if it makes a difference.It can cause drowsiness,but it also relieves her pain,which is very important.She might also be sleeping better because her pain isn't as bad. Old dogs do sleep a lot. As long as she is eating well,I wouldn't worry too much. It can cause constipation,though,so maybe a little more fiber in her diet ( sweet potatoes are good).And yes,I have had dogs take it,and my cousin's old Labrador takes it as well. It helps him tremendously with his spinal arthritis.
