What is the name of a drug that is similar to tramadol?

Tramadol has been making me very sick lately so i asked the pharmacist for a antiemetic. He said it would be pointless and told me to ask the doctor for a drug I can't remember the name of.It sounded something like atranium but I can't remember. Any ideas to what it could be.

The only medication that is remotely similar to Tramadol is its big brother Codeine. tramadol is one of the most unique opiodes available. It is a synthetic opiate and a SNRI. Its mode of action is unknown.....unknown? I have taken it for over a year and I can't make heads or tails of this stuff. I really can't imagine anything other then other opioides that would even come close to tramadol, the only path is to step up into the world of narcotic pain medication, or step down into the world of anti-inflammatories like Naproxen. Sorry if that didn't help.

What happens if im taking theses meds with tramadol?

im taking wellbutin xl 300mg and lamictal 150mg ,,, so now i want to know, if i take tramadol for pain every once in while ,what are the risks? and to avoid health risks i was thinking of skipping my well dose in the mornin if that day im taking tramadol and maybe skipping the lamictal at night too so there would be no interaction between the meds. I want to know whats the safest way to take tramadol while on these meds , btw tramadol was prescribed for me recently for pain but i couldnt reach my psych to ask her if im okay taking them or not. because the doc that gave the tram presciption didn't seem to care if i was on other meds or not and he didnt explain to me anything

There are no known interactions between any of those drugs. So I don't think there is anything you need to worry about if you use tramadol for occasional pain.However, hormone levels and the such in each individual can cause other effects.So, I would suggest you take your meds as normal, and if you experience anything abnormal after a tramadol dose, then contact a doctor.Or, if you want a professional answer, call a pharmacist and ask. You can either ask your regular pharmacist, or go somewhere like walgreens.com and search for a store with a pharmacy, call them and ask.

Does anyone take tramadol for migraines?

I've read that it's an off-label use, and I would like to try something cheaper than my imitrex. However, one of the side effects is headache, so I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

I usually stick with Imitrex for my migraines. Nothing works better then taking an Imitrex at the first signs of a migraine and laying down in a dark room with no lights on for an hour.

Tramadol or Ultram is an opioid so this is what you would be trying. If you need and have had success with Imitrex then the Ultram will probably be useless to you. Headache is not listed in the physicians prescribing index as a side effect of Ultram.
