How can i tamper off safely from the use of tramadol 50 mgs?

50mg a day? That's not a whole lot. I think the smallest pills in production are 50's.Maybe try taking one every other day, or even instead of taking 50mg a day, take 50mg every 26 hours - then 30 - then 35... The time of day you take the pill will get later every day, but it'll be gradual. You have to be careful with getting off Tramadol not only to avoid opiate WD's, but also because it is has a slight ability to limit synaptic reuptake of serotonin (kinda like a an SSRI antidepressant). This could lead to depression/suicidal thoughts during tapering off. Be careful and maybe see what a nurse or doc has to say. Just call a hospital triage center and see if they can direct your call to someone who can help.If you are taking more than 50mg a day, then slooowly reduce your dose day by day (week by week?). ex. Take one fewer pills in a 24hr period for a week or so - then reduce by one more.If this stuff isn't prescribed for you, face-to-face access to a doc will be more difficult. (Duh.) Just go slow and try to keep a supply on hand to counter WD's or depression. Don't be afraid to call a chemical dependence specialist for advice (if things have gone that far).Tramadol isn't your average opioid (serotonin activity), countering WD's with Hydrocodone or Codeine won't help with the depression if you are taking a lot of it (~200-300mg a day).Good luck, and remember, call someone who can give you a more solid answer if you are at all concerned. It is very good for the pain in my back and the pain I had after my op. You have to be careful with it as it can become addictive. I was warned by my dr that it can make the effect of valium and other meds that make you drowsy worse. Other that that im not sure what to say.

used to take tramadol long time ago. you feel really groggy apon waking. absolutely do not take after expiration. it will give you horrible headaches.

It is a synthetic opiate like pain killer that can be extremely addictive. It is good for pain in higher doses of 100 -200 mg. It makes you feel a euphoric high as with all pain killers. When I take it, I feel like I have more strength and energy. Every person is different though because some people get drowsy from it.It causes heart palpitations in some people or even siezures. Over dose can be fatal.

Tramadol is a narcotic. It is a synthetic opioid. It is addictive, can be abused and when stopped suddenly after long term use can result in severe withdrawal symptoms. Don't be fooled by people who say it is not a narcotic. Also note, contrary to what the first responder has reported, there is no evidence of tramadol causing seizures, as much as lowering the seizure threshold in people who are prone to have them. It is often reported as caused seizures, due to the prescence of tramadol being a key factor in the seizure in an otherwise stable person.Naproxen is an antiinflamatory, it would be considered reasonable for mild to moderate pain,Tramadol is unusual in that some patients have significant relief, and others seem to have no benefit. So if you ask two separate people you may get widely varied answers. For those for whom tramadol is effective, it works as well as hydrocodone which is found in Vicodin or Norco. These in turn are similar in dose effect orally to morphine. However it takes approximately 100 mg of tramadol to equal 30 mg of hydrocodone or morphine. Oxycontin is stronger on a dose effect level orally than morphine or tramadol.Methadone is stronger than Oxycontin.Fentanyl is strongest in an equianalgesic dose, but cannot be taken as an oral tablet.

tramadol is like tylenol3 (tylenol w/codeine). it's a sythetic opiod. works well, but overuse/abuse could give you seizures. naproxen is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory). Think super strong advil. sold OTC as aleve. could be really tough on the stomach. the chart in the source link has opioid equivalents for what's out there.

LOL not very high!!I've taken both. I still take hydrocodone and oxycodone. Tramadol you might as well take extra strength tylenol. At least with that you don't get withdrawls.
