Tramadol anyone taken itgood or bad effects?

Brother was prescribed this for pain but we found out there are very bad side effects and its addictive.Anyone with advice, and is this similar to oxycodone?Thanks

yes i have taken it for pain, it helps you relax and makes you drowse it made me itch but i rather have that than the pain, i advise it if in unbearable pain because not sleeping and not resting can prolong recovery. It can be addictive if taken for long period but used sensibly can be helpful. if he has any other side effects he should let his doctor know. Im not sure about oxycodone anything with codine can also be addictive but if used for long time

I take it for migranes and yes it has side effects such as vomiting and no appatite. I always eat a little something before going to bed and never take more then prescribed. Ginger helps. Bananas help also. My advice is to try to get on something else for pain as it is very addictive. You did not say what he took them for other then pain. Try for something else asap

tramadol is nothing like oxycodone. oxycodone is a opiate narcotic with highly addictive qualities. you can check both drugs out at webmd.com

Has anybody any advise on what to expector whats to happen regarding me going cold turkey on tramadol?

im going cold turkey from tramadol on saturday 22nd november.has anybody got any advise on what to expect and what to do to make it easier.been thinking twice about going cold turkey but ive used a months supply in two weeks so i dont think i will get anymore of my doctor to ween myself rather than go cold turkey,thanks!!

i say go cold turkey, i abused opiates for about 2 weeks but the negetives outweighed the positives (constipation being the biggest factor), but luckily i never get that with tramadol. i would reccomend going cold turkey to shock your nerves into being able to feel again.

If you can try reducing dose slowly before going cold turkey to make it easier. Tramadol isn't as addictive as other opiates so you shouldn't have to much trouble.

i usually take 5-50 mg tramadol for chronic leg pain, i also have vicoden on hand but im out of tramadol and not sure how much vicoden to take to compensate for the tramadol.

I have been on Subutex for 3 years, because of pain pill dependency. Because of my bulging discs, I had to take tramadol for a few days for pain. But now, I want to go back to subutex. Thanks

to prevent withdrawl you should wait several half-lifes of the opioid you were just taking[1]. The half life of tramadol is 5-7 hours[2]. so 24 hours after taking tramadol you will have 6.25 of the dose left in your system. As you appear to have been clean for 3 years before your back problem it is likely that you wouldn't go into the same withdrawal you experienced 3 years ago.

Driz 11 has got some basic pharmacology right but has missed the main point: Tramadol is a synthetic opioid and as such has no physiological addictive properties.You are more at risk from stopping your subutex than you ever will be from stopping Tramadol after a few days use ..
