How do i beat tramadol addiction?

Catherina

I have been on Tramdol for 5 yrs. I don't take it for pain, I take it for pleasure, to be happy with myself, and things I do. Without it, my life is boring, hellish, and I hate myself.

Starkissed, did you read the PI sheet that the pharmacy gave you when you started on your Tramadol? One of the serious side-effects listed in the PI sheet is addiction. For that matter, even a cursory Google search on 'Tramadol' would tell you that it can indeed be addictive. Every reputable reference that comes up on the first page of a Google search mentions that Tramadol can be habit-forming and that it should therefore never be prescribed for a patient with a history of addiction to drugs or alcohol. (For that matter, all of the less-than-reputable Buy Tramadol Online! sites that pop up on the first page ought also give a clue as to its abuse potential!)Jake, I'm sorry that you feel your life sucks so much unless you self-medicate with Tramadol. From what you say, though, I'm thinking that if you really want to quit this habit, you're going to need some outside help, possibly including some counselling. You don't seem to be in a place where you'll be able to kick it on your own. I'd recommend you look for a detox center close to where you live. Even if you don't choose to do the full-fledged check-yourself-in thing, they can still advise you on how to proceed and may also connect you with a doctor who can help out with the withdrawal symptoms. You might also find a narcotics addiction support group very helpful: while Tramadol isn't technically a narcotic, it acts very much like the opioids, and from what I have heard, the withdrawal symptoms are very similar (and sometimes even worse). Talking to other people who have gone or are going through the same thing can help a lot.Good luck.

Tramadol is a synthetic opiate. You can't be addicted to it.

Prescription drug abuse may require the help of professional addiction treatment services. There are resources available online but you need to assess what will be best for you. Relying on the drugs can severely reduce the quality of your life. I hope that you get the help that you need.

It is not yet too late to seek for help for treatment. Avoiding drugs and alcohol is much easier when you are constantly being looked after. There are always counseling sessions to attend, 12-Step meetings to go to, group discussions and a variety of other activities that continually keep you focused on recovery and keep you occupied as well. Go to rehabilitation in order to keep you away from that addiction. You know that it is not right and it would cause you harm in the future. If you care for the people close to you better quit it now and seek help for treatment.

Get professional help. Look into some rehab centers that offer detox programs and inpatient care. After detoxifying your body you should participate in other programs such as individual counseling, group therapy, etc, to help maintain your abstinence.
