If i take a 50 mg tramadol prescribed to my dog will the reaction be different than taking tramadol for humans?

Flossie

Tramadol is tramadol. Animal drugs won't be made to the same quality standard as human drugs, and the other components in the pill will be designed for a dog's metabolism rather than a person's. But yes, it is the same drug and should generally produce the same effects. If you are going to take it, check that tramadol is the only active ingredient. It's often mixed with other drugs.

We have used that drug for our dog.... it was actually pretty useless. Enteric coated aspirin works far better. And when the doc scripted that for my husband, Aleve, Darvocet were each far more effective. I'd say Tramadol is a drug trying to find a problem....worthless.

Tramadol is a great pain medication! You can take your dogs dope if you choose. Actually, I have no experience in taking dog pills , but i think Trams are Trams. People take it once or twice and think it's no good. tramadol is very effective for moderate to severe pain. I agree with the first answer, I think that it was useless for the individuals she mentioned. BUT, it is very effective for millions of people. i get sick of people bashing tramadol with blanket statements. Drug seekers don't want it because they don't feel like House M.D. when they take it. Losers.
